Journeying, with faltering steps, into the holy place…
The closer I come
to the source of true holiness
the more aware I become
– of my innate tendency
to selfishness & sinfulness
– of the secret things,
which defile who I am.
And my heart grieves that
I break His heart, with
my insolence and obstinacy
~~~~
The impurities I see within
are set in contrast to the
beauty of His perfections.
Yet rather than pushing me away,
I am drawn closer, ever closer
into that awesome place
where grace is extended
where cleansing is effected
where life is exchanged
and I rise up, clothed
in a righteousness, not my own
What an amazing poem – all should read.
Yes, I’m so aware of MY selfishness and sinfulness . . . ! Thank God Himself for redemption!
AWEsomely written, Alec..!!
Lovely and you wrote it at the right time. Lent is the time for us to be humble and remember what Jesus has done for us. To be thankful and stop being selfish.
How blessed we are to have that grace – stunning poem Alec.
This is so true. Isn’t it amazing? We rise clothed, not only in righteousness, but humility.
“and I rise up, clothed
in a righteousness, not my own”
What a wonderful God and Saviour we have!
Thanks Alec.
GREAT POEM I don’t think I’m biased!
